Unlike Humpty-dumpty, Castle and Beckett are most definitely back together again.
A good season premiere reminds us, after the long summer break, why we watch a show. This was a GREAT season premiere, reminding me why I have a weekly flip out *squee* session every monday.
There were COUNTLESS references to hilarious moments from the two preceding seasons: my favorites being ‘ice-hole’ (referencing ‘The 5th Bullet’) and the first interrogation scene (similar to the one in the Pilot). But here are all the others I caught:
The snake- referring to ‘The Third Man’
The cardboard cutout that follows Beckett- from ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ -also from that episode- They brought back L.T. as one of the uniforms at the crime scene, but this time he got a line!
‘He really is ruggedly handsome.”- from ‘Always Buy Retail’
‘POSITIVE’- echoing ‘SHUT UP’ from ‘A Rose For Everafter’
Beckett grabbing Castle’s ear- from ‘Hedge fund Homeboys’
“CIA is a popular theory with you…”- ‘A Deadly Game’ and ‘Fool Me Once…
The shoot-out ALLEY location- Used in the first episode!
Stana’s faces in this episode are TO *DIE* FOR. She spends the whole episode trying not to let Castle see what she’s thinking, but we always get to see it. Stana is an amazing actress. Period.
Beckett: “Castle go home. Go back to your Hamptons, your ex-wife, your book parties…” <This *killed* me. Kate is SO angry with him, and she just can’t stand it anymore, she can’t deal. And the scene with her just staring at ‘his chair’?! I can’t even…
Who else noticed that Castle never sat in ‘his chair’? I did. Nice symbolism guys…
“Maybe he missed his chance…” oh, Castle’s face here is so sad! It’s funny that Alexis and her father apparently lead parallel lives, causing, on more than one occasion, for Castle to learn something about life (usually about the opposite sex) from his daughter. When their problems mirror each other, they both learn from each other.
“What’s it matter? As long as they CONNECTED.” Aww, Martha and her martha-isms; she is such a great character, and plays so well off of each other character. Martha is a great example of why this show is so good; because the ensemble works so well together, even across the family/precinct line.
Ryan finally got to shoot his gun! —and he missed. He also got Gibbs-slapped by Espo! BAHAHA. I love that Ryan is such a goofy character and Esposito is so suave and mature. They so much more like brothers to Beckett than they were in season 1, and the fact that they spend this episode totally hating on Castle for breaking Beckett’s heart was ADORABLE. The precinct has turned into a little family with Papa Montgomery holding the reins. Love it.
“Everybody has tattoos’ and ‘you should have seen some of the clubs I’ve been to’ made me want to know so much more about the more fun/wild aspects of Kate’s backstory, which I hear we are supposed to get in a few episode this season. Yay! —I have a feeling she’s not nearly as straight laced as Castle thinks she is.
I’m trying to figure out exactly when Beckett is supposed to have figure out that they were counterfeiting— and I don’t know, but when Castle is supposedly figuring it out, she’s almost GIDDY that he is ‘winning’ the bet.
…when they both shout ‘I know who the killer is!’ I was shouting ‘JUST KISS HIM ALREADY!”
Lanie’s hair is going to take some getting used to, I liked it curly… Castle’s hair is in an indefinable place right now, I can’t really figure it out… and Beckett’s hair is AWESOME! The long totally suits her.
Prediction: This season is going to be awesome. That’s really not so much a prediction than a fact… haha.
